Half Life 2: Episode 2 Coming
24 Feb 2006 by Josh Hubi | Half-life 2 |

Valve software has confirmed episodic releases as a continuation to the storyline of Half Life 2. The long awaited 'Aftermath' Expansion has been dubbed "Episode 1". But to shake things up a bit, and perhaps to give hope to slavering Half Life fans, Valve has announced they have already been in development on Episode 2 for quite some time.

The current expansion is set to go on sale for $19.99, and the following episodes will most likely follow suit as far as pricing. The first expansion is predicted to be somewhere between 4-6 hours of game play. This is fairly short for all the fans that have waited patiently for some hint of where the storyline is going.

According to Robin Walker at Valve Software, the studio not only has Episode 2 planned, but have been working on it almost as long as they've been working on Episode 1. This is in hopes that we won't have to wait too long for the next chapter. More will be revealed regarding the Citadel and the mysterious G-Man soon, with Episodes 1 and 2.

Facepunch Deathmatch is under way!

Hi there, Dav0r here from the newly started Source mod "Facepunch Deathmatch" to start of i'd like to let you know a little bit about the mod.

It is based around the Facepunch Commnunity which most of you find familiar since it is the home for Gmod, the idea sprung up one day in the gmod IRC channel and grew at an alarming rate, after just a few hours we had an entire page of ideas and suggestions listed down.. The main bulk of the mod that begun in my hand was modelling and skinning of weapons, then along came a couple of mappers, a coder and skinners.. Although we lack Animators I'd say we got off to a pretty good start.

Aftermath or Episode One?
14 Feb 2006 by Josh Hubi | News Bit |

Half-Life 2: Aftermath, a long-awaited expansion, will take full advantage of the updated Source engine's new effects like High Dynamic Range lighting and improved Depth-Of-Field effects. In a surprise move, Valve has announced that Aftermath will be only the first in a series of episodes to be released via the Steam content delivery system. Pricing (if any) is not yet determined.

This appears to be of a trend for Valve, following the recent release of Ritual Entertainment's Sin Episodes, the continuation of the long-thought-dead SiN series. The SiN series also uses the Source engine, and features cheap, episodic release. Could this be the end to waiting years for game releases? Would you rather pay 20 dollars per piece for 4 pieces of a game as they get made? Or 50-60 total and just wait for the whole thing? Only time will tell when we see how successful Half Life 2: Episode 1 is in the upcoming months.

There is one good thing and bad thing about this name change. The good thing is the fact that there is going to be more then one episode to Half-Life 2. The bad thing is the name change itself. Why cant valve keep it "Aftermath". Its like taking Half-Life Blue Shift and calling it "Half-Life: Episode One"

If valve is coming out with more then one episode, The unique game title will tell each other from apart. "Hey bob? did you play the new half-life Episode where that big thing pops out and blows you up?" Bobs reply is "was it Episode 1, 2, 3 or 4?"; "I don't know bob, I kinda forgot too". We don't want this happening now do we?

In the meantime, we're all looking forward to enjoying Aftermath, and we'll see how it progress's HL2's cliffhanger Storyline.

A day ago I have gotten an e-mail from the owner of the popular website leak-free.org that is no longer in service. You may all know of leak-free from back in the time when it was BM:S former home.

Leak-Free is coming to us in a time of need as their host has locked them out and destroyed their key. It looks like Leak-Free is coming back in the game. I am still waiting for their reply to this matter.
